2008. 09. 10.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary on September 4, 2008., Béres Foundation handed over its donation, the high frequency surgical knife with all solemnity to Semmelweis University I. Department of Paediatrics. The device could be purchased following the successful charity concert organised by Béres Foundation on April 26 this year.

Klára Béres, president of Béres Foundation said: „Our Foundation started its programme „Béres for Cancer Patients“ in 2002 to help people with cancer. Since 2003, the Béres Foundation has been involving external donors and organising charity concerts to contribute to the medical treatment of cancer patients among others. To help others is the motto of Béres Foundation, and we keep helping people, because this time we installed a medical device which will be utilised at this department among the first ones in the country.”

Prof. Dr. Tivadar Tulassay, head of the I. Department of Paediatrics of Semmelweis University said: „Our institution has been performing the surgical treatment of children with cancer, newborns and children requiring thoracic surgery for decades now. Our patients come not only from Budapest and the agglomeration but also all over the country. With Béres Foundation’s support, we could acquire a state-of-the-art surgical instrument.

With its help, we can improve the surgical treatment of children with cancer in particular. With this special knife, capable of bringing remarkable development in paediatric surgery – explained Prof. Dr. Tibor Verebély head of the Clinic’s Department of Surgery – the operations can be performed with hardly any blood loss. Its novelty is also indicated by the fact that this kind of medical instrument is applied first at our department among departments of paediatric surgery.”
